Keeping rust at bay, putting the charge
in the battery.

Zinc is the “other metal” in so many products, it’s hard to imagine life without it. It’s the rust-proof coating on steel fence posts. Alloyed with other metals, it make springs springier and brass shinier. Zinc Oxide protects your nose from sunburn, and makes paint and cosmetics whiter. Zinc is in batteries and coins. Zinc sulphide is in fluorescent lights, TV screens and even in glow-in-the-dark clock dials. And most of it starts out as the mineral sphalerite.
